Whether you are a beginner or advanced tango dancer, this workshop is for everyone! Come join bandoneon maestro Joaquín Amenábar as he leads dancers through the clever method he developed to teach tango musicality to non-musical students. Find out what West Coast and European dancers enjoy about Joaquín’s workshops.
Saturday, July 23
#1. Tango Rhythm: Recognize and dance to the basic units of tango. *
#2. Tango Melody: Recognize the difference from rhythm and how to dance it. *
#3. Improvisation I: How to use what you have learned in a milonga setting. **
Sunday, July 24
#4. Milonga & Vals: How to listen and dance to milonga & vals.
#5. Syncopation I: Recognizing simple syncopation in tango.
#6. Improvisation II: Improvising to tangos that have syncopation. **
Workshop Venue: Channing-Murray Foundation - 1209 W Oregon St., Urbana
Time: Saturday & Sunday @ 1:00pm - 6:00pm (90 minutes each)
(Check-In & Warm-Up from Noon to 1:00pm)
Pricing: $25 per class, Full workshop = $120 (Register in advance by 7-17!)
