Description

From the depths of Mesopotamia, where the first footsteps of humanity resonated, the rhythms that accompanied those ancient strides still echo across time. In these ancient lands, nestled between the fertile banks of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the earliest traces of civilisation merged with the rhythms of dance, adorned with the enchantment of mythology and history. From the Sumerians to the Assyrians, from Babylon to Akkad, this cradle of civilisations has long been a place where the human spirit found expression through dance, harmonising with the rhythm of the cosmos.

Mesopotamia Tango Marathon stands as a tribute to the magnificent past of Mesopotamia, forging a bridge to the future through the timeless language of dance. As shadows twirl in the light of the flames under the night sky, the tales of ancient gods and heroes are brought to life once more. Dancing bodies unravel the dusty pages of history; prayers, battles, and victories that once echoed through these lands are revived through steps, movements, and melodies.

We invite you to embark on this magical journey, where Mesopotamia’s millennia-old cultural richness is interwoven with the art of dance. Close your eyes and listen to the footsteps of ancient civilisations; let your spirit surrender to the mystical rhythms that rise from the soil of Mesopotamia. This Tango festival will transport you to the heart of Mesopotamia, where dance is not merely an art form but an eternal narrative of the human soul.

As history comes alive through the dance of ancient Mesopotamia, it is ready to find new life within you. Are you prepared to step into this mesmerising experience?

Note: This marathon will be held in Diyarbakir, Turkey, for 3 days and in Mardin, for 1 day. This marathon also includes cultural tours in these ancient cities. For more details, please visit our website. Please feel free to contact us via WhatsApp to register.

The Mesopotamia Tango Marathon, which I have attended for the past two years, has been an incredible event for me—one where I danced a lot and also met amazing dancers from all around the world, forming wonderful friendships. Dancing in the enchanting historical settings of Diyarbakır and Mardin, combined with the region’s famous and delicious cuisine, creates an experience full of both culture and passion. For this reason, I would definitely recommend this unique experience to all tango lovers who want to nourish both their soul and their dance.

They had thought of every detail. It was a carefully prepared event. Visiting historical places in two different cities and dancing there was very beautiful and enchanting. The food was also very delicious, and there were options available for vegetarians and vegans, which I really appreciated. I really liked the event hotels as well; they were quite comfortable and located in central areas. Many dancers from different cities and countries, at various levels, participated, and the organization was very fun. I also found the DJs quite successful—I really enjoyed dancing. I will definitely join the next marathon ??
