Description

**english below**

2nd Tango Festival - Komische Oper Berlin (March 1-3, 2019):
milongas, tango cafés, workshops, shows, live music and concerts!

The Komische Oper Berlin, the dance school Mala Junta, Sólo una Vez and Pippo Tango invite you to the 2nd Tango Festival in the Komische Oper Berlin from 1st to 3rd March 2019! In the world-famous opera house, music is played, listened to and of course danced to for 48 sensual hours. From Friday to Sunday there is a unique program of milongas, tango cafés, workshops, shows and live music as well as concerts, performances and a fashion fair.

The well-known milonga series Sólo Una Vez will be resurrected for this unique opportunity, and as in former times, the entire Berlin tango scene and all of its styles will dance and celebrate together in a unique location on several dance floors! The tango cafés are hosted by Pippo Tango.

The Tango School Mala Junta is responsible for the show and workshop program. The Argentinean world champion Clarisa Aragón & Jonathan Saavedra will inspire us with shows, as well as the Berlin champion couple Sophia Paul & Julio César Calderón and the famous show couple Fatima Vitale & Mario de Camillis. Live music in milongas is played by the "Tango-Quartett" and an ensemble of Turkish tangos. Guillermo Monti, Ala MaLisa, Markus Quander, Michael Rühl and Mona Isabelle & Crew are the DJs.

Tango as an art form honors the Komische Oper with a tango concert with Gidon Kremer and his famous instrumental ensemble Kremerata Baltica, night concert of the "Orquesta Tipica" and the bassoonists of the Komische Oper Berlin as well as two concert performances of Astor Piazzolla's music to Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with the grand Katharina Thalbach and the ensemble of the "Mala Junta" from the tango show "Locura Tanguera" with Judith Preuss, Constantin Rüger, Christiane Rohn and Felix Naschke.

*** ABOUT THE KOMISCHE OPER BERLIN ***
In 1947, the Komische Oper Berlin was founded in the neo-baroque premises of the former Metropol Theater by director and artistic director Walter Felsenstein. The award-winning Komische Oper Berlin is one of the three major opera houses in Berlin. Since its inception, it has been synonymous with contemporary, lively music theater in all its forms - from opera to operetta and musicals - and has become one of the most prominent opera houses in Germany, not least since the directorship of Barrie Kosky.
For the Komische Oper Berlin, we at SOLO UNA VEZ like to make an exception and use this wonderful place a second time. Impressions from the first tango festival in 2015 can be found in the photo gallery.
