PRIVATE LESSONS are also available on the Sunday and Monday.

For more than 20 years Astrid has been dancing Tango and is well known and respected in tango communities worldwide as an excellent leading woman and beloved teacher. She has developed strong sensitivity in leading, great creativity in improvising and playful musicality which stand out as key elements in her dance. But Astrid is recognised also for her skills as a follower which expand her knowledge of the dance much more.
Since 2005 she has been teaching in Berlin at "PHYNIXtanzt" Studio. She regularly travels and has been a guestteacher at events in the UK, Paris, Argentina, US, Canada and more recently in St. Petersburg, Russia. She has received invitations to teach and perform at several Festivals like Queertangofestival Copenhagen, Phantastango Festival (Germany) or Queertango Festival Buenos Aires. In 2011 she founded the 1st. intern. Queertangofestival in Berlin with great success and has gained an international reputation, which has attracted more than 400 dancers since.
Her teaching is based on awareness of connection in the couple, and bodymechanics, along with a profound knowledge of technique and structure. She also concentrates on creating a constant dialogue between the leader and the follower ensuring they share the responsibility of listening and reacting to each other, whilst maintaining a strong connection to the music.
Astrid creates an atmosphere of generosity and acceptance in class combined with humor to ensure that the learning process stays enjoyable.
Her exploration of the many techniques of tango, from the very classical, to the very experimental, leading and following and including other dance forms like contact improvisation or modern dance or somatic dance makes her believe that there is no "one" Tango. She believes in creative, liberating variety and connection of ideas, movements, improvisation and technique by repecting the roots of Argentine Tango.
Her main goal is to help students dance with ease and confidence, creating a pleasurable experience for their partners whilst finding their own unique tango voice.
All this makes her a popular tango dancer and pedagogue, who is beloved in many Tango communities worldwide.
