Description

Jar and I have put together a Charity Tango weekend to raise money for a school in Thailand in order to raise funds so that they can employ more teachers.
We have invited a very exciting Tango couple from Brazil (see details below). There will be a weekend of classes, a Milonga with lots of surprise and many ways for you to donate.

Teachers

Emilia & Benjamin

They are argentine artists trained in art schools and universities in: tango, folklore, contemporary dance and other disciplines. Technicians in dance, received at the Etec de Art of Brazil. Creators and choreographers of the Charme Tango Company. They have been working together for more than 9 years.

They began their studies in the Faculty of Arts and in the Regional Technological University, in different private schools of tango and in the National University of Art in tango from Bs.As. They learnt from masters such as Osvaldo and Coca Cartery, Los Veliz, Tanguito Ceja, Mario Morales, Toto Faroldo, Gustavo and Giselle Naviera among others; and were distinguished with a scholarship of training as dancers and teacher in the DNITango school. In Brazil, they continued their training with international masters in contemporary dance, somatic education, Eutonia, Feldenkrais, research in art, audiovisual in dance and choreographic composition.

They worked in companies of tango from Bs As and gave workshops, regular class, technique lesson and performance in: Northern Tango Academy (Liverpool, Manchester, Menston, York and Nottingahm - UK), Tango Mango Festival (Totnes - UK), Gilles Cuena Tango Space (Paris - France), Studio Inspiration (Fukuoka - Japan), Milonga La Yapa (Barcelona, Spain), Center of Reference of the Dance of the City of São Paulo, São Paulo Theatre, Etec Arts Center (Brazil), Derby Tango, Cambridge Tango, Norfolk Tango in UK and in several cities in Switzerland, Spain, Tunisia, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina.

They have organized milongas and festivals throughout their tango career. They have also worked as guests Djs in different milongas.


Class details:-

Saturday :
Workshop 1 (11 am - 12.30 pm) - Vals: Walk and breathe with the music (Improver-Intermediate)


Workshop 2 (1 - 2.30 pm) - Chacarera and Zamba: introduction to another form of connection and movement. (Open level)


Workshop 3 (3 - 4.30 pm) - Sacadas and Turns (Intermediate-advanced)

Sunday:
Workshop 1 (11 am - 12.30 pm) - Comfort and mobility in close embrace (Open level)

Workshop 2 (1 - 2.30 pm) - Vals: Turns & translations (Intermediate-advanced)

Workshop 3 (3 - 4.30 pm) - Concepts to improve your tango (Improver-advanced)

Cost: Each workshop will cost £20 per person

All workshops will be taking place at Century General Store, Montrose House, 1-7 Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh EH7 5DJ
